Have you tried some sort of textured black for the border? Like a marble pattern with a hint of blue in the strips. I would go with something dark to make the image stand out. You have her feet and hair coming out of her "frame," and I think the border should help enhance that. I would not go with flat black, but I would do some sort of "wavy" pattern in the black to match her hair and the clouds in the background. That is my suggestion.
oookay. the border...hmm...
I say it cannot be any shade of blue for anyway I think of it, it is too much and it doesn't do anything for the whole.
perhaps a dark violet...or something patterned!...that solves the problem with the solid colors. Maybe then you *could* use blue...a dark deep blue or something with arabesques or plants, or a star motif. perhaps a blue with silver designs or something...or sea waves..
If you having trouble with this lovely piece why not like up pictures of mothers to be on the net? I still like it I say play around with it don't stop keep going.^^
I think I've got the anatomy where I want it - my problem now is the background just isn't working. I'm going to rework it when I figure out what to do.
You've smoothed the shading very well... looks even better now! And the crabs are adorable. ^..^ Border color, hmm..... maybe the same color as the little veil-thingy?
Very good! The color helps to even out her expression and truly make it one of serenity. I like the fact that you broke up the colors around her feet, that helps give some perspective to the card by grounding her so that the clouds behind her lend more to a state of mind. She's not just floating around up in the sky.
Beautiful clouds! I think it's neat that you have Curaniel standing on an opaque box, but surrounded by clouds.... suspended in the air, yet grounded. ^..^

Sorry if that made no sense whatsoever...
