Spinel Trade

This necklace was my half of an art trade with the very talented to give to for her birthday (she's also very talented - visit them both!). I received some of his drawings in return. I included a couple of detail shots because I really liked the components of this piece. It's faceted, multi-colored spinel beads, a ruby point pendant with a garnet cabochon, and a nifty garnet box clasp of sterling silver. Although it looks deceptively simple, those spinel beads had such tiny holes that I actually had to burn the nylon coating off of the wire I strung them on so it would fit! That's certainly a first for me
